Family Faves – June 2024

Happy Thursday and welcome back to The Chic Delight! Summer is officially in full swing and I am loving it. You see, in the south, summers can be a bit brutal. Between the heat and humidity, it can be a bit rough, but I truly feel like summer is one of the best times. You get pool and lake days, cold beverages, and I feel like it is the time for creating so many memories. But anywayssss, today I wanted to bring you a fan favorite, my family faves! If you aren’t sure what I am referring to, essentially I round up a hot tip from one of my three sisters and mom. Between the five of us, we are always finding good things, sharing hot tips, and seeking advice on how to become better versions of ourselves. I wish every one of you could be a part of the group chat!

First, I always share something from my mom. While she always finds the cutest clothes, my mom is best for her amazing advice. She always knows exactly what to say and how to handle a situation and is always encouraging me to be the better person. For this post, I am going to share a tip she gave me in regard to setting my day up for better success and that is to start the night before. Recently, we were talking about how having a messy house is very stress-inducing for me and something she suggested doing was setting a timer for 15 minutes after we get the kids down and resetting the house as much as possibly. This could include dishes, putting away dinner, putting away Arabella’s toys, running a loud of laundry, vacuuming for 15 minutes, etc. Just take 15 minutes and see how much you can get done. So far, I have been working on this and it definitely makes all the world of difference when I come down the stairs the next morning to a more organized house. I feel like I can start my day with a fresh breath of air instead of feeling that anxiety begin to creep in the moment I come downstairs.

Next is my sister Stephanie. She is the oldest and Stephanie is amazing at finding great deals and even greater products! I love it when she sends a new link, because it’s going a guarantee it is going to be good. One of her recent finds was was actually a really good podcast. I am going to link it HERE. This podcast talks about how to not waste your summer and not get thrown of course when schedules and life enters a different rhythm during this season. The episode is only 20 min long, so a super easy listen.

Third is my sister Krista. Krista is second in the line up and she is the Martha Stewart of the family. Leave it to Krista to give you the best recs on recipes, home decor, gifts, etc. One thing she shared recently was actually some great menu ideas! She had them all divided up by cuisine, making it super easy to simply just pick one from each category and have your weekly menu all taken care of.

And last but not least, is my sister Onge (her real name is Andrea, but we call her Onge). Onge is a like my favorite surprise. She might share an amazing deal, or maybe a killer recipe. She also might offer some of the best advice or give us something to contemplate our emotions on. She sends links to books, podcasts, articles, and more. I always love to see what she shares in the group chat because you truly don’t know what you are going to get, but you always know it is going to be great. In fact, I had a hard time choosing what to share from Ongie because I had quite a few good ones, but I thought I would share a tip she offered that is applicable to our current stage of life – potty training! I know, it isn’t that exciting, but if you are potty training or going to be, I thought it was brilliant. She said to keep a potty in the car and then if your kiddo is having a hard time going number two in a public place, you can bring them back to the car to go potty. From there, just place a diaper in the bottom of the potty and then when they are finished, clean up the diaper and place in a doggy poop bag. I thought this idea was brilliant and really helped mitigate mess. IF you are potty training, have gone through it recently, or will be going through it, you know how great this is.

I hope you found these tips helpful! If you are wanting to look back on a previous post like this, check out THIS ONE.

I hope you have an amazing day, friends!

xoxo,

Melissa
