Today is September 10th, and you know what is great about September 10th? It is the day that John proposed. One year ago, my soulmate asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It blows my mind to think about how lucky I am to have such an amazing man, but it blows my mind even more to think about all that we have done since this day. In one year John and I planned and celebrated our wedding (we got married in a little over 7 months), I moved John across the country, I moved across the country (John moved October 2016 and I moved in January 2017), John and I started new jobs, we moved AGAIN (to a bigger apartment), and I started this new adventure…my blog. Quite a bit if I do say so myself, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Our story is amazing, and this chapter in our lives is probably my favorite thus far, but, I think you should all know what got us to this point….
John and I met in California in college at a small Lutheran school called California Lutheran University. It is located in Thousand Oaks, CA which is one of the safest cities in the United States and probably one of the most boring for a college student. We were freshman when we met and John actually coordinated our meet-up by telling one of our mutual friends that he really wanted to meet me and wanted her to bring me to a dorm common area where he could “run-in” to us. He came in, we met, and then began slowly chatting more on Facebook messenger (it was pretty popular then). We exchanged numbers and had our first date at Inn-n-Out. He wore seersucker sail boat pants and I was hooked. We continued to date through college, until our junior year where we did breakup four about 6 months. Our breakup was one of the worst things I have ever gone through, but it was necessary for our story because without it, we wouldn’t be the couple we are today.
We then continued and survived 2.5 years of long distance while I was in nursing school in DC and he was still in CA. Following nursing school, I worked as an RN for about 8 months before moving back home. It was that following year that he then proposed at my family’s yearly staycation. It was perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for more. Following our proposal, we realized we had a new adventure on our hands –> relocating to Charlotte, NC. Which then brings us to present day and 9.5 years later. There are obviously a lot more details in there, but many of those are for another day.
I feel it is important to share John and I’s story, because our relationship is a huge part of who I am as a person. He is my rock, my cheerleader, my teacher, my partner in crime, and so much more. He helps make me who I am, and although I love fashion and I love fitness, John and my family are my number one priorities. I want this blog to not only be a place of inspiration, but also a place of learning about me, and I about you. I hope to not only inspire you, but to also allow you to be a part of my community and a part of who I am. Just as much as I hope to become a part of your community and who you are. I am here to share, support, encourage, love, and motivate in my own unique way. Thank you to those of you who have already included me as a part of their communities and I hope that I can continue to grow to help and be there for as many more people as I possibly can.
Thank you again and I love you!
The photos on this post are from the day of the proposal and the morning after.
Warmly,
